Privacy

The short version: we collect what is needed to run a news site and to remember what you asked us to remember, and nothing else.

Reading the site

You can read worldbreaking.news without an account. Doing so does not require you to accept tracking, and we do not build a profile of your reading in order to sell it.

If you sign in

Signing in is handled by our identity service. We hold the identifier it gives us, and your email address and name where it provides them. That identifier is what ties your saved stories, your follows and your alerts to you, and nothing else.

What we store because you asked us to

  • Stories you save, and the version you read, so we can tell you when something changes.
  • Topics, countries and regions you follow.
  • Alerts raised for you, and whether you have read them.
  • Your reading language, in a cookie, so it works whether or not you sign in.

Advertising

Ads are placed against the page, not against you. We do not build behavioural profiles from your reading history, and ad requests are made by our servers rather than handing your browser to a third party. See advertise for the placement rules.

Questions, and removal

You can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to delete it. Requests go through the support desk so there is a record of what was asked and when it was done.
